Book banning, a form of censorship, occurs when private individuals, government officials, or organizations remove books from libraries, schools, or bookstore shelves because they object to their content, ideas, or themes. Books are usually challenged with the best intentions - to protect others, frequently children from difficult ideas and information. Join us at Brix Cider to hear 3 frequently challenged children's books. Local author, Alex Bledsoe, will be there to talk about how book censorship is an ongoing issue. Rowan Childs from the Madison Reading Project will be there with FREE books and explain the mission of MRP to make these books available to children in Wisconsin.
