The Mount Horeb Area Historical Society (MHAHS) will host an Open House for prospective volunteers (ages 16-110), with two sessions offered to accommodate varying schedules: Wednesday, April 10 (9-11am) and Thursday, April 11 (430-630pm). At these informal events, interested individuals are invited to drop by the Driftless Historium (100 S 2nd St) to chat with MHAHS staff about volunteer needs and opportunities. Light refreshments will be provided. MHAHS is seeking to build our volunteer corps. The Driftless Historium History Center & Gift Shop is committed to maintaining regular business hours (we are open daily, 10am to 4pm) and providing a positive image for the Mount Horeb community. To do so, we absolutely rely on volunteers. Frontline volunteers staff the front desk, greet visitors and man the museum’s unique gift shop and book store. The Driftless Historium is open daily, with two shifts staffed—9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. (As little as one 3.5 hour shift per month really helps!) Collections and archives volunteers assist with preservation, research and other special projects under the supervision of Curator Johnna Buysse. There are also various Committee positions available, including spots on the Marketing, Membership, Events and Fund Development working groups. No experience is required; all training is provided. MHAHS makes a fundamental effort to provide a fun and supportive atmosphere and scheduling flexibility. Please note that the Driftless Historium is a Silver Cord-approved facility.
