For small business owners, planning for the transfer or sale of a business due to death, retirement, or incapacity can feel overwhelming. Understanding where to start and what to consider is essential to navigating this process effectively. Move from overwhelmed, to ready to take the first steps!
Does your business or your client’s business need a business succession plan for transfer of the business to the next generation of family? This will be a special focus of this month’s presentation!
Do you want to better understand the issues and questions to consider when developing a business succession plan, regardless of who will receive the business? This month is also for you! We will consider post-sale considerations such as the current owner staying on to assist in the transition to new ownership and noncompete agreements for the departing owner(s). We will also consider the use of a board to better ensure a successful transition for the new owner(s) and protecting owners with a minority interest in the business.
