Take a break from the hustle and bustle of the season, and step into the whimsical and imaginative world of accomplished puppet maker Ken Vogel.
Forty marionettes and hand puppets crafted by Madison artist Ken Vogel will be on display in “Puppets on Holiday,” a free, limited-run exhibition at the Driftless Historium debuting December 2, 2023 and running through January 15, 2024.
Meet Bucky Badger, Robert and Belle LaFollette, Bob Cratchit, Jacob Marley, Tiny Tim, and dozens of other incredible papier-mâché creations.
Vogel has been making puppets for more than 50 years and estimates that he has crafted an astounding 10,000 puppets over the course of his still-vibrant career.
“Puppets on Holiday” will be free and accessible in the Kalscheur Family Foundation Community Gallery during the Driftless Historium’s open hours (Friday through Tuesday, 10am-4pm) through January 15, 2024.
A variety of Vogel’s displayed works will be available for sale, with a portion of the proceeds donated by the artist back to the museum.
