For anyone who believes in democracy, rule of law, loving thy neighbor, providing basic humanitarian aid to those most in need, respecting diversity, appreciating public employees, or passing down a livable earth to future generations, the last few weeks have been traumatic and devastating. We have an administration that is brazenly and in some cases illegally dismantling so many things we care about. It’s heartbreaking.
Many of us are feeling anxious, sad, or eager to do something. It’s hard to know the best response to a blitzkrieg on our values and institutions.
We believe it starts with gathering as a community to talk about it. Rather than doom scrolling in isolation, let’s connect because we’re stronger together.
We plan to create a space for people to share their thoughts and to hear from others in our community. We aim to learn from one another, spark new ideas, and imagine new ways to demonstrate resistance to the assault on our values, while growing more resilient as individuals and a community.
This is a first trial of this event, and should we find continuing interest, we may continue by making this a more extended series.
