• Annual Pasty Sale October 19, at Mount Horeb United Methodist Church

MOUNT HOREB, Wis. – Advance orders are now being accepted for delicious Cornish pasties, which can be picked up at the Mount Horeb United Methodist Church Annual Pasty Day Sale Saturday, October 19.

A Cornish pasty is a baked pastry filled with meat and vegetables whose origins are associated with Cornwall, England. A pasty is made by placing filling on rolled-out pastry dough, folding the pastry to wrap the filling, crimping the edge to form a seal, and baking. Pasties originally served as a working lunch for miners to take underground. They make for an easy, quick and fulfilling meal that can be frozen until needed.

Two varieties of pasties are available for $7.00 each:
    • Traditional – a recipe containing beef, potatoes and onions
    • Combo – a meat and vegetable combination with beef, potatoes, onions, carrots and parsley

Pasties may be ordered and paid for online through Wednesday, October 16, by visiting the church website at www.umcmh.org, emailing the church office at office@umcmh.org, or by calling 608.845.5148. Purchasers should provide their name, phone number and quantity of each variety they are ordering.

Pasties are baked that day and should be picked up and paid for anytime between 3-6 p.m., Saturday, October 19, at the church, located at 9542 County Highway S. Use the north entrance in back and enter fellowship hall to the right.
